Accessible YouTube for Communicator 5

Getting Started

  • There are no requirements for using Accessible YouTube. If you have a Google account, you can use it to log in. This will allow you to browse through your viewing history, receive personalized recommendations from YouTube and synchronize activities with other devices you use.
  • If you want to login, make sure you have your login and password available.
  • Login – after selecting  Accessible Youtube from your Communicator 5 Home page, follow the sequence  – Login and Info => Sign In => Email or Phone => enter your Google account email or phone number => Next =>  Password => enter your Google account password => Next => Sign In.
  • You are now logged in to your Google account. Click Continue to YouTube to start using the app.

Home Page

  • Menugo to YouTube Menu.
  • Select – click this button after deciding which video you want to watch. All videos in the current table will become dwell-enabled and you will be transferred to the “Select Video” page.
  • Reload Table – use if the movies table disappears.
  • Back and More arrows – these arrows are highlighted and dwell-enabled at all times. clicking these arrows will take you to the previous or next page of videos.

Select Video Page

After clicking the Select button on the Home page, you will be transferred to the Select Video Page. Here all the videos are highlighted and dwell-enabled. Select a video using eye-gaze.

Once a video is selected, click Go to video Page to display it in full screen and use the Video page controls.

Click Pause Dwell  if you changed your mind and you want to continue browsing the video pages before selecting

Video Page

  • Menu – go to YouTube Menu.
  • Mute – mute the video being played.
  • Player Volume – go to a page with Player volume controls.
  • Forward and Rewind – go to a page allowing you to jump forward or backward in the video being played.
  • Skip Ad – allows you to skip pop-up windows and ads (only where YouTube allows it).
  • Start Over – restart the video being played.
  • Video Options – toggle subtitles, toggle auto-play (at the end of a video).
  • Playlist –  will appear if the video being played is part of a playlist. Clicking it will bring up a table with other videos on the playlist. The current video will continue to play in the background.
  • Related Videos – present related videos (determined by YouTube) in a table. The current video will continue to play in the background.

YouTube Menu

  • Home – go to YouTube Home page
  • Search – click to search for videos.
  • History – present your viewing history in a table which you can browse and select from.
  • Utilities – recover / reopen YouTube, close windows you do not need, close pop-up messages, zoom in or zoom out…
  • Options – change the device volume, toggle Skip Ads Automatically. Go to “Additional Options” – where you can control video table dimensions.  
  • Exit (Communicator Home Page) – exit Accessible YouTube.

Additional Options Page

This page is accessible from the Options page – change the dimensions of the videos table. These dimensions are used in the Home, Search Results, History, Related Videos and Playlists.

Click the Change Table Size button and select one of the 5 options.

Frequently Asked Questions

You can review the videos on the browser area. You can select the More button (highlighted, on the browser area) using your eyes, to review more proposals. Once you are ready to select, click the Select button. This will highlight all the videos on the right side and you will be able to select one using your eyes.

Once the video is open, click the Go to Video button. This will take you to full screen mode and allow you to control the video.

Click Menu and then click Search.

Yes, click Menu, Options, Additional Options and then – Change Table Size.

To view your watching history you need to be logged into your Google account. This can be done by clicking Login and Info on the first page (below the YouTube button).

This is how it is supposed to work. Click pause before going to Related Videos if you do not want to be distracted.

Yes. While playing a video, click Menu, Exit (Communicator Home Page), and then Exit Only.
