Getting Started

  • Requirements – to use Accessible WhatsApp you need to install WhatsApp on your smartphone or tablet with cellular connectivity.
  • Using Accessible Whatsapp for the first time  – After selecting  Accessible WhatsApp from your Home Page, you will see the “scan QR code” prompt. On your smartphone or tablet, go to the WhatsApp Web menu to a device (normally the “+” icon) scanning a QR code.
  • You are now ready to use Accessible WhatsApp.
  • Note – Accessible WhatsApp uses WhatsApp Web. WhatsApp Web  requires your phone or tablet to be connected to the internet.

Home Page

  • Search – search for a contact.
  • Menu – go to WhatsApp menu.
  • Chat Options – go to the Chat Options page
  • Send Message – send a message (text, emoji, picture…) to the selected contact.
  • Previous Contact and Next Contact – select the contact above or below the highlighted contact. If no contact is highlighted – select the first contact.
  • Browse Contacts – open a table with your contacts, to browse and select a contact.
  • Chat Up and Chat Down – scroll up or down several messages in the chat with the currently selected contact.
  • Read Contact – read the name of the highlighted contact aloud.

Send Message Page

  • Record– send a recorded message (voice recorded).
  • Emoji – send an emoji.
  • Send Picture – upload a picture from your device and send
  • Camera – take a picture using your device camera and send.
  • My Messages – go to your phrases and send a phrase as a message.
  • Type – use your keyboard to type a message and send it.
  • Clear Media clear chat from media item ready to be sent.
  • Send File – upload a file from your device and send.
  • Send – send the item waiting to be sent.
  • Note – after typing a message or selecting one from your phrases, you can send it as a text, or convert it to an audio  message (using your Communicator 5 voice).

  • Top Contact – go to the top contact in your chats.
  • Create Group Chat – create a WhatsApp group.
  • Enlarge Contact Picture – view a larger picture of the selected contact.
  • Utilities – recover / reopen WhatsApp, close windows you do not need, close pop-up messages, zoom in or zoom out…
  • Options – change the device volume, toggle text enlargement, turn auto-read of contact-names and message-text on or off, additional WhatsApp options.
  • Exit (Communicator Home Page) – exit Accessible WhatsApp

Frequently Asked Questions

Click the Browse Contacts button. It opens a table with your contacts on the browser area. If you have more than one page of contacts, the button More will appear on the table. You can move between the pages, by clicking this button (which is eye-gaze enabled). Once you are ready to select a specific contact, click the Select button and select a contact using eye-gaze. Then click Exit to go back to WhatsApp home page, to send and review messages to/from this contact.

Use the Next Contact and Previous Contact buttons to navigate between your contacts. Once a contact is highlighted you can use the Chat Up and Chat Down buttons, to go over this contact messages and read them.

Use the Next Contact and Previous Contact buttons (or Browse Contacts) to navigate to the contact that you are interested in. Once the contact is highlighted, click Chat View, and use the Message buttons (up and down) and Page buttons (up and down) to get to the message you want to select.

You need to click send, only when the file / picture that you want to send is selected. If you click Send when a directory is selected, nothing will be sent, and the dialogue box for selecting a file / picture will be closed.

Yes. Click Menu, and then – Create Chat Group. You will now be able to browse your contacts and add them to the group. Once you are done, click Create Group, and give your group a name. Once you have created a group, you can send and receive messages in the group.
